UCL Maths In Action Trip

Hits: 292

Year 10 Set 1 Maths went to UCL for a Maths In Action day.  We had six lectures covering a range of topics:

Guy Martins Wall of Death, why cats land on their feet; exam technique; how life reflects numbers and numbers reflect life; probability and risk and geographic profiling to investigate murders and discover who Banksy is. It was a brilliant day and students could make the links with the maths we do in the classroom and how it can be applied in a variety of ways.  It has inspired them to consider maths at A level, and maybe as a degree option.
