Support for Head of Year overseeing achievement, welfare and standards for a single year group.

Form Tutors (teaching) x 60

Form tutors oversee 12 Forms in each year group. They are the first point of contact for pastoral support and provide advice, guidance and mentoring for tutees.

 

Student Support Manager

A dedicated and full-time member of non-teaching staff who co-ordinates all external agency referrals and internal support services.

Emotional Literacy Support Assistants x 2

Embedded within the learning support department, our licenced ELSA practitioners support students with their emotional literacy.

School Nurse

To support students with medical issues and to offer advice and guidance. Students may ask to see the school nurse via their form tutor, year team or the Student Support Manager. We also make referrals to the school nurse on behalf of children.

Chaplaincy Service

One day per week our School Chaplain is on hand to offer advice, ethical and spiritual guidance or simply someone to listen.

External Mentors

We offer a range of mentoring from outside providers. Most referrals are made by the school after consultation with parents

 

Counselling

On hand to support with students’ emotional needs, we employ a trained counsellor 1 day per week. Referrals to the school counsellor are made via the Student Support Manager after consultation with the year teams and parents.

 

Family support

We employ a family support mentor to work with families who request additional support, advice and guidance. Referrals are made via the Student Support Manager after consultation with parents

Outside agency support

We engage with a wide range of external agencies to support the safeguarding and mental health of our students. Referrals are made via the Student Support Manager, usually after consultation with families and other key pastoral and safeguarding staff.

Student Prefects/Mentors x 120

Prefects, Mentors and Junior Prefects are attached to Year 7 and 8 form classes and are another point of contact and guidance for younger students. Prefects also carry out corridor duties during lunch breaks. Senior Prefects work closely with the senior leadership of the school and form another channel for student voice or concerns.
